Fish Hoek Think Tank Invitation

Fish Hoek is at a critical point. A continued degrading of Main Road has the effect of making criminals more comfortable operating in that space, which means crime will increase, tourism and the economy will relocate to other areas, and the chance of turning Fish Hoek around becomes exponentially more difficult.

Revamp The Valley is organising a "think tank" of professionals and thought leaders. From urban designers, to security professionals, environmentalists, or those in the community who are ready to act on any level, we welcome you to the table.

What is a 'think tank'?

A think tank is a highly focused meeting of professionals who can offer particular skills to deal with a real problem in short-, medium-, or long-term timelines.

We are looking for people who are ready to commit to actual improvements in the Fish Hoek area - starting with the town's CBD area and expanding out through the necessary areas of the Valley that require improvement.

That means less brainstorming and ideas, and more practical planning: What is the problem? Possible realistic solutions? Timeframes for the solutions?

Permits required? Cost of each aspect? How do we pay for it?

Space will be limited so that all required stakeholders are represented fairly. Community members who are proven thought leaders will also be invited.

To complement this process, broader public engagement will also take place through media and physical interactions and events. At all times, this will be facilitated on the principles of community democracy.
